Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel sent National Basketball Retired Players Association CEO Arnie D. Fielkow a letter officially welcoming the Legends of Basketball to the Windy City. The NBRPA moved its corporate headquarters to Chicago in early 2012.
In the letter, Emanuel congratulated Fielkow and the NBRPA on a successful move. He discussed the NBRPA’s mission statement and lauded the Legends of Basketball as community ambassadors for the game of basketball.
Emanuel was elected the 55th mayor of Chicago on February 22nd, 2011 and was sworn in on May 16th, 2011.A native of Chicago with three terms representing his North Side district in Congress, Emanuel most recently served as the White House Chief of Staff in President Barack Obama’s administration.
