Marketing and Public Relations Summer Internship – Springfield Armor (Springfield, MA)

Description

The Springfield Armor, proud NBA Development League affiliate of the New Jersey Nets, are seeking a passionate and committed team player to participate in our Summer Public Relations internship program. This position requires participation in a 3-4 month program for top students seeking real life experience in the sports and entertainment industry. Our internship program is unpaid, but college credit is available. Expected start date: May 15, 2012

Responsibilities

  • Writing stories for Armor team website and email newsletter
  • Assist in designing and revising team media guide
  • Graphic design (designing flyers and other promotional pieces)
  • Assist in the planning, coordination and execution of community events
  • Work a minimum of 30 hours per week during normal office hours (8:30 am – 5:00 pm), plus additional nights and weekends as assigned
  • Maintenance of player and team files
  • Assist in managing team social media, including Twitter and Facebook
  • Attend meetings, team functions, and events as assigned by the team President and Director of Marketing &
  • Accompany mascot and dance team to appearances
  • Perform daily office duties as assigned by team President/Director of Marketing & PR

Qualifications

  • Current college student pursuing a degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field or a recent college graduate
  • HTML and/or Adobe Creative Suite knowledge very helpful but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire to work in public relations in professional sports or sports media
  • Ability to work at a fast pace
  • Strong knowledge of basketball
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Self-starter, highly motivated team player
