GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Open to COLLEGE STUDENTS ONLY; Juniors, Seniors, and Graduate Students
  • Must be seeking an internship for class credit as a prescribed part of curriculum (students will be required to submit documentation from their school)
  • Nights and/or weekends may be required depending on the internship; flexibility to participate a plus
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, a customer-first attitude, enthusiasm, and strong verbal and written communication skills, in addition to the requirements for the “Open Internships”
  • No financial compensation is available, and housing and transportation are the responsibility of the student

Assistant Trainer Internship

Overview

The purpose of this internship is to give the intern experience on running, maintaining and executing strategies to successfully manage a training program. This internship will also provide the intern the opportunity to work under the supervision of a nationally certified trainer and to learn the “ins and outs” of operating an overnight sports camp from a medical perspective.

Qualifications

  • Open to college juniors, seniors and graduate students seeking an internship to fulfill class credits; no financial compensation is available and housing/transportation are the responsibility of the student
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated and professional, and able to participate during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar
  • Must be majoring in Athletic Training.
  • Must be certified in CPR, first aid & safety.
  • Must have spent 2 seasons traveling with an intercollegiate sports team as an asst. trainer.
  • Hiring is conditional on the successful completion of a criminal background check; applicants should also either possess or be able to attain PA Child Abuse History clearances.

Duties

  • Work under the supervisor of the director and the trainer of the camp in providing basic first aid to campers and staff.
  • Organize and coordinate deliveries of training and first aid supplies.
  • Organize the daily training room schedule both for the rehabbing of injuries and to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Communicate with the director and the trainer on a daily basis with respect to which campers are injured and require medical attention.
  • Assist the director and the trainer in conducting morning stretching exercises of the campers.
  • Assist with the registration and orientation of the campers
  • Assist the trainer with campers requiring rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Assist the director and trainer in making sure that campers and staff have their medical needs met during weekend trips.

 

Camps/Youth Programs Administration Internship

Duties

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with coaches, parents, and participants regarding camps and youth programs
  • Assist in the creation and assembly of program materials
  • Assist with recording information pertaining to camps/clinics
  • Assist in preparation of group mailings for camps, youth organizations, etc.
  • Assist in setting up clinics, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Canteen Director Internship

Overview

The purpose of this internship is to give the intern experience on running, maintaining and executing strategies to successfully manage a canteen (and therefore any store or snack bar) which provides dining, food and beverage vending. This internship will also expose the intern to what goes into the successful planning and execution of an overnight camp (aside from the playing and coaching aspects).

Qualifications

  • Open to college juniors, seniors and graduate students seeking an internship to fulfill class credits; no financial compensation is available and housing/transportation are the responsibility of the student
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be able to keep up in fast-paced environment, customer service orientated and professional, and able to participate during normal business hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as based on the event calendar.
  • Must have some retail experience and have excellent math skills.
  • Must be able to multi task and enjoy working with kids.
  • Hiring is conditional on the successful completion of a criminal background check; applicants should also either possess or be able to attain PA Child Abuse History clearances.

Duties

  • Work under the supervision of the director to determine the concession requirements for the canteen and snack bar and assist in the ordering of those concession requirements.
  • Organize and coordinate the deliveries for the canteen and snack bar and keep a daily inventory of the concessions.
  • Organize and coordinate the daily canteen and snack bar work schedule with the director.
  • Along with the direction, supervise the canteen and snack bar.
  • Assist the director and the night time supervisor with any problems or issues.
  • Assist with the registration and orientation of the campers.
  • Assist with the awards ceremony.
  • Assist the weekend staff with the supervision of camper trips.
  • Assist with the morning wake up call
  • Assist with the nightly movie theater.
