Team TriCaster Director – Tulsa 66ers (Tulsa, OK)

Position Summary

The NBA Development League is looking to hire a local Team TriCaster Director (TTD) for the Tulsa 66ers. The Team TriCaster Director will be responsible for managing the team’s daily Futurecast operations for the 2011 – 2012 NBA D-League season. This project assignment is anticipated to last until May, and the individual hired will be expected to work approximately eight hours during game days/nights for the duration of the assignment.

Major Responsibilities

  • Operate TriCaster on game nights
  • Hire, train, and supervise game night camera operators
  • Coordinate with radio play by play crew for pre-game and half-time shows to:
  • Select camera shots
  • Insert graphics
  • Insert commercial spots
  • Select highlights to replay during the game
  • Switch audio feeds between radio play by play and the "studio".
  • Prepare 10 to 15 minute pre-game show that includes interviews with players and coaches prior to trip
  • Prepare Half-time show, consisting of highlights and other D-League scores
  • Prepare weekly conference call/e-mail updates with D-League and local team Public Relations representatives discussing relevant news and story-lines in the D-League. Participate in monthly conference calls as scheduled by the D-League
  • Archive and upload game film
  • Build graphics during the pre-production time prior to the game
  • Coordinate with radio announcers to determine what story-lines will be followed
  • Archive game footage and highlights onto the FTP server
  • Secures equipment for post-game
  • Deliver high resolution highlight package on a portable digital format on game nights with a written shot sheet that clearly describes the situation, action and result for each sequence
  • Send game notes of the archive being shipped back to NBA Entertainment in New Jersey
  • Participate in TriCaster training sessions if necessary

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of live sports television
  • In-depth knowledge of the game of basketball
  • Previous experience on TriCaster system helpful
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and Internet Applications
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent relationship builder
  • Must be self motivated, able to work independently, and be a part of a team

Experience Needed

  • 5-10 years of experience as a local TV news/sports technical director, on-air director, or master control operator

Educational Background Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, though not required
