Sioux Falls, S.D. (Sept. 15, 2011) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that Eldridge Recasner has been named assistant coach for the 2011-12 season. The-seven year NBA veteran played under current head coach Mo McHone with the Yakima Sun Kings for two seasons (1993-95). "Coach McHone has been a great mentor and I'm honored that he wants me to be a part of his staff this upcoming season," said Recasner. "I would like to eventually coach in the NBA and I can't think of a better organization to work for in order to reach that goal." Recasner averaged 5.9 points while shooting 88.7 percent (235-of-265) from the free throw line in 296 career NBA games over seven seasons with the Denver Nuggets (3), Houston Rockets (63), Atlanta Hawks (130), Charlotte Hornets (95) and Los Angeles Clippers (5). His most productive season came in 1997-98 with the Hawks, when he averaged career-highs in points (9.3) and rebounds (2.4). Prior to playing in the NBA, Recasner played for the Louisville Shooters (Global Basketball Association) and Yakima Sun Kings (Continental Basketball Association). He averaged 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 117 career games with Yakima from 1992-95. The former Washington Husky had a dream season in 1994-95 as he was named CBA MVP after averaging 20.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 48 games and helped lead his team to the 1995 CBA championship. |
