Who are we?
 
The NBRPA is a non-profit organization comprised of former professional basketball players of the NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters. The Association's mission is to promote basketball and enhance the sport's image by assisting Members in building community relationships and fostering support for charitable activities; providing comprehensive health care coverage; offering the Dave DeBusschere NBRPA Scholarship Fund for members and their children; monitoring the pension plan; and creating opportunities such as special appearances and international basketball tours.
 
Is there a difference between the NBRPA and the Legends of Basketball?
 
No. The NBRPA is also frequently referred to as the Legends of Basketball.

Who is a member of the NBRPA?
 
The NBRPA has a membership of more than 1,000 former basketball players of the NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters. Click here to see our Membership List.

When was the NBRPA founded?
 
The NBRPA was founded in 1992 by basketball legends Dave DeBusschere, Dave Bing, Archie Clark, Dave Cowens and Oscar Robertson. These basketball luminaries shared a vision of providing assistance to retired players through a variety of services.

Is the NBRPA connected with the NBA?
 
The NBRPA is a subsidiary of the NBA. The NBA has played a major role in funding the Association over the years. The NBRPA has close relationships with both the NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).

Is the NBRPA website for fans or members only?
 
It's a community for both. Does the NBRPA have a charitable component?
 
Yes, the NBRPA supports several different charitable organizations each year. The Association's fundraising efforts focus particularly on the Dave DeBusschere Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to NBPRA Members and their children. The Association has donated more than $1 million in scholarship money to former players and their families.

What activities is the NBRPA involved in annually?
 
Annual Reunion/Members Meeting; NBA All-Star Weekend featuring The Legends Luncheon; several year-round events including overseas basketball tours and clinics, speaking engagements, charitable activities and more. For the latest updates on upcoming events check out Events. 

What are the requirements to become an NBRPA member?
 
In order to be eligible for membership, one must be a former NBA player, ABA player or Harlem Globetrotter; played for at least one season professionally; officially retired from the league with all paperwork settled with the NBPA.

What does the NBRPA offer its members?
 
Membership benefits, exclusive events, networking, speaking engagements, charitable activities, staying connected with professional basketball, reuniting with former teammates, support for personal business and charitable endeavors and much more.
