ABA PLAYERS FILE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

August 12, 2014

NBRPA member Mack Calvin is one of three former ABA players spearheading a class action lawsuit accusing four former ABA teams of multiple violations of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

The suit cites the San Antonio Spurs and three other franchises as improperly complying with retirement plans and seeks relief that could put millions of dollars back in players' pockets. The suit was filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas on July 24, but a settlement may have already been reached due to help from the Spurs and the NBA's new commissioner, Adam Silver.

Over his remarkable seven-season ABA career, Calvin notched five All-Star selections and three appearances on the All-ABA First Team. He was also named to the ABA All-Time Team in 1997.
