Atlantic 10 Conference to Honor NBRPA Member Fred Crawford

NBRPA member Fred Crawford will be honored as a member of the 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Legends Class. The "Legends Celebration" honors former men's and women's basketball players and/or coaches who have contributed greatly to the prestige and tradition of Atlantic 10 Basketball and their respective institutions.

Crawford, who graduated from St. Bonaventure in 1964, is currently seventh on St. Bonaventure’s all-time scoring list with 1,738 points.  Over his three seasons, he averaged 22.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. His first season of 1960-61, Crawford helped St. Bonaventure to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and a record of 24-4. As a senior in 1963-64, the 6-foot-4 Crawford tallied a remarkable 631 points – an average of 26.3 per game. The Crawford-led teams helped to propel St. Bonaventure to national prominence. Crawford went on to play in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Buffalo Braves and Philadelphia 76ers. He was inducted into the St. Bonaventure Hall of Fame in 1970 and his uniform #54 is retired. Saturday, January 18, A new mural saluting Crawford and his accomplishments was unveiled inside the Reilly Center.

Crawford is invited to attend the Atlantic 10 Basketball Championship held at the Barclays Center on Wednesday, March 12, through Sunday, March 16.  Formal recognition will occur at the Legends Celebration Brunch to be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
