COMMUNITY YOUTH CLINIC AND MEETINGS IN MIAMI

CHICAGO, ILL. – – The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the only alumni association comprised of former NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters and WNBA players, and its Board of Directors will convene in Miami to host annual meetings and a community youth clinic at the Joe Celestin Center. As part of this very special event with the Board of Directors, over 12 NBA Legends will be working with local youth along with officials from the NBRPA on Tuesday, May 31. This event is not open to the public and media coverage opportunities are available. Details of this special Youth Clinic event are as follows:

WHAT: Youth basketball and mentoring clinic conducted by the National Basketball Retired Players Association and its Board of Directors.

WHO:
Thurl Bailey, NBRPA Board Chairman- A twelve-year NBA veteran, Bailey also led the 1983 North Carolina State University basketball team to the NCAA
Dwight Davis, NBRPA Board Vice Chairman - Davis is a University of Houston basketball legend and played five seasons in the NBA.
Nancy Lieberman - One of the greatest women's basketball players of all time, Lieberman is the second woman in basketball history to be apart of a coaching staff in the NBA and is a member of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.
Rick Barry - One of the 50 Greatest NBA players of all time, Hall of Famer Rick Barry is the only player to lead the NCAA, ABA and NBA in scoring for an individual season.
James Donaldson - Donaldson played 14 seasons in the NBA and was named an All Star in 1988.
Mike Glenn - After his nine year NBA career, Glenn joined the broadcast team for the Atlanta Hawks and started a foundation that currently travels to multiple cities showcasing historic African American artifacts.
Spencer Haywood – A Hall of Famer, Haywood excelled in both the ABA and NBA, where he won a championship in 1980 and had his number 24 jersey retired by the Seattle SuperSonics.
Larue Martin Jr. - Martin was the first overall pick in the 1972 NBA Draft and played four season with the Portland Trailblazers.
Johnny Newman - A member of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, Newman played an astounding 16 years in the NBA.
Eldridge Recasner - Never giving up on his dreams, Recasner played in variety of professional leagues for 5 years after his college career before earning a spot on an NBA roster where his hard work and ferocious play led him to a nine year career.
David Naves – A former member of the Harlem Globetrotters, Naves also has over 41 years of management experience.
Casey Shaw – Shaw is a former player for the Philadelphia 76ers and had an illustrious career playing basketball overseas.
Irving Thomas - Former member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Currently serves as a scout for Lakers.
