State of the NBRPA Meet and Greet

The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the only alumni association comprised of former NBA, ABA, Harlem Globetrotters and WNBA players, will host a special "State of the NBRPA Meet and Greet" at SoBe Restaurant on May 24. As part of this very special event, NBRPA Senior Vice President of Partnership and Chapter Development Scott Rochelle will convene with former basketball greats to discuss the NBRPA’s mission, the organization’s international and domestic charitable efforts, and develop ways to further strengthen programs that help former players transition to a successful life after basketball.

Players scheduled to appear include:

Johnny Newman, NBRPA Board Member – Newman led Richmond University twice to the NCAA Men’s Tournament during his college career. He was then drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1986 NBA Draft and went on to have a 16-year NBA career. He was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
David Naves, NBRPA Board Member - A former member of the renowned Harlem Globetrotters. Following his Globetrotters career, Naves ventured into the business world where over the last 40 years, he has held engineering, management, and executive positions within the rail-car, automotive, and aerospace industries.

The evening will be a fun opportunity to learn more about the NBRPA, to learn of their vision and mission, and to share a good time with former basketball greats. Complimentary light appetizers and drinks will be provided.
