NBRPA “Full Court Press: Prep For Success” Program Update

June 27, 2013

NBRPA Board, Founders & Chapter Presidents:

The NBRPA’s 14-city, nationwide youth basketball and mentoring program – held in conjunction with the National Police Athletic League (PAL) and National Urban League (NUL) – is in full swing this summer. The program, Full Court Press: Prep for Success, was initially unveiled at NBA All-Star 2013 in Houston and will include a day-long youth basketball and life skills clinic conducted by NBRPA Members in each market, combined with a year-round mentorship program for each youngster that participates in the day-long session.

The program is a collaborative effort of the NBRPA, PAL and National Urban League. NBRPA Members Eldridge Recasner and Kenny Battle are leading the clinics alongside four or more additional NBRPA Members in each market.

“We are excited to team with the National Police Athletic League and National Urban League to make an impact on the lives of at-risk youngsters and thank them both for their support of Full Court Press: Prep for Success,” said NBRPA President & CEO Arnie D. Fielkow. “As the lifeblood of our non-profit association, NBRPA Members – former professional basketball players at the highest level – are philanthropic ambassadors for the game of basketball and this new program falls perfectly in line with their desire to give back to youth.”

On June 25 the NBRPA hosted a youth basketball and life skills clinic in Charlotte at Greenville Neighborhood Center in conjunction with the National Police Athletic League (PAL) and National Urban League. NBRPA Members Kenny Battle, Eric “Sleepy” Floyd, Xavier McDaniel, Vernon Maxwell and Chris Washburn conducted the basketball portion of the event, which impacted more than 150 local at-risk youth.

The event had approximately 165 youth participants and media across the Charlotte area came out to cover NBRPA Legends giving back. Below is a pair of links to media coverage:
