National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) members George Lynch, Sam Perkins, Andrea Stinson, Rex Walters, Vin Baker, Winston Bennett and Eldridge Recasner will coach in the Portsmouth Invitational as a part of the NBRPA’s partnership with the NBA’s 2016- 2017 NBA Assistant Coaches Program.

The program provides participants the opportunity to sharpen their coaching skills through hands-on experience, coaching and basketball strategies, and to better prepare them for pursuit in their coaching and basketball endeavors. The program has exposed over 150 qualified former players to GMs, coaches and NBA/ D- League team personnel as potential coaches with many more to come.

The Portsmouth Invitational consists of 64 of the best senior college basketball players from across the nation competing in a four-day, twelve game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team. The tournament will give the NBRPA assistant coaches the chance to guide players through individual and team drills and assist their head coach with in-game management duties. The tournament started this past Wednesday, April 13 and will run until Saturday, April 18.
