The NBRPA’s partnership with the National Police Athletic League (PAL) continues to grow. At the national level, the NBRPA has teamed up with PAL and the National Urban League for a 14-city touring youth basketball and life skills program called Full Court Press: Prep for Success. But the partnership between the NBRPA and PAL also trickles down to the local level.

Los Angeles Lakers scout Irving Thomas, Vice President of the NBRPA’s Miami Chapter, recently teamed with PAL in South Florida. The PAL Summer Jam 2013 camp in North Miami, hosted by the Irving Thomas “Elite” Basketball Academy, had a tremendous turnout with 75 campers in attendance selling out the camp. The Mayor of North Miami, PAL officers and officials, and the entire coaching staff at the Irving Thomas “Elite” Basketball Academy expressed great gratitude toward National PAL for its continued support of the NBPRA.

The NBRPA made a donation to the camp that in turn provided two young campers the opportunity to attend the camp. The campers were recipients of the Warren Jabali Scholarship that they won through a contest on a local radio station in North Miami.

National PAL is a national youth crime prevention program that brings youth and law enforcement together in a positive environment that promotes trust and respect for each other. The Irving Thomas “Elite” Basketball Academy is already looking forward to next year’s camp and the partnership with the NBRPA and National Pal. The NBRPA is excited for this newly formed partnership and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
