NBRPA statement on the election of Michele Roberts as new union leader

The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the only alumni association directly supported by the NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA), today issued the following statement from Chairman of the Board Otis Birdsong, Vice Chairman Thurl Bailey and President & CEO Arnie D. Fielkow regarding the election of Michele Roberts as the new Executive Director for the NBPA:

“The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) would like to congratulate our colleagues and friends at the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) on the election of Michele Roberts as the union's new Executive Director. Ms. Roberts has very impressive credentials and her selection as the first female to lead a major professional sports union is significant and historic. We look forward to welcoming Ms. Roberts and sharing ideas as part of our long-time partnership with the NBPA.
