Former Aggies basketball great accepts position at alma mater

CHICAGO, ILL. – The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA), the only association comprised of NBA, ABA and Harlem Globetrotters alumni, today announced that its treasurer and former Utah State University men’s basketball standout Marvin Roberts has accepted a position as Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement & Diversity at his alma mater. Roberts will hold this position through the Division of Student Services at Utah State University, which helps provide vision and leadership in the development and administration of a vibrant campus life program. This program engages the entire campus community by using nationally recognized best practices.

Roberts, who played in both the ABA and NBA during his 7-year professional basketball career, is serving his second term on the NBRPA’s Board of Directors as treasurer. A one-time actor, Roberts has accomplished much in his career in life after basketball as an executive with McDonalds and Federal Express. The 63-year old said he is excited to start another chapter in his life after the game.

“I believe the past 25 years in corporate life have served as a prelude to this wonderful opportunity to work with the students of Utah State University,” Roberts said.
Roberts is a member of the Utah State University Athletics Hall of Fame. He averaged 22.3 points and 12.9 rebounds per game during his career at the Logan-based university and earned All-America honors in three of his four seasons while leading the Aggies to two NCAA Tournament berths.
