The NBRPA Mourns the Loss of Marques Haynes

The NBRPA extends condolences to the family, friends, and former teammates of NBRPA Member Marques Haynes, who passed away at the age of 89.

Known as one of the best dribblers of all-time, Haynes played with the Harlem Globetrotters from 1947 to 1953. He rejoined the team in 1972 and was an integral part of the 1974-75 Globetrotters before playing for the Harlem Wizards in 1979.

His #20 jersey has been retired by the Globetrotters. The origins of Haynes' amazing dribbling ability go back to a dirt yard in his hometown of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. He was known for dribbling and weaving through entire defenses and introduced basketball fans to the glamour of ball handling.

Known as one of the most influential and innovative basketball players ever, Haynes died of natural causes on May 22, 2015.
